Christmas Parties- Do’s and Don’ts
Christmas party season starts early these days and for many people from the start of December nearly every night is taken up with various drinks, dinners and late night dance fests. To make sure that you survive the season we’ve got some tips on what to do and what not do to for a fantastic Christmas party season.
Do
- Dress to impress! Christmas parties are all about looking good and getting into the festive spirit so don’t skimp on the sparkle. From a novelty Christmas jumper, to a tux, ball gown or just lots of sequins there are lots of ways to make yourself the Christmas star this year.
- Mingle! Even if you’re a bit shy the Christmas party is the best time to have a couple of drinks and get to know your colleagues or friends of friends you’ve just met. Everyone’s defences are down, everyone is looking forward to Christmas – it’s the ideal time to do some bonding.
- Party like its 1999! Whether your office is funding the partying or you’re just in the mood for celebrating, if you’re going to attend a Christmas party then don’t stand in the corner like a lemon, get up and dance!
- Relax and get into the festive spirit! It’s Christmas, it’s the time of goodwill among men (and women) so this is the perfect time to let your hair down. No matter what the pressures of the year have been it’s time to kick back and relax.
Don’t
- Wardrobe malfunctions! Although you need to dress to impress remember that you don’t want to be that person who ends up flashing their boss or looking a bit trashy. Go for it with festive spirit but keep it decent.
- Get too friendly! It’s a great time to get to know your colleagues and wider circle of friends but remember that there are still boundaries to be respected. Keep your hands to yourself and don’t get leery, no matter how much drink is involved.
- Act the fool! It’s great to be the life and soul of the party but you don’t need to be the court jester. Don’t get too overexcited and keeping the fooling to a minimum.
- Do anything you will regret! Let’s be honest, the combination of alcohol and people you don’t know that well can be a little incendiary so approach your parties – especially the work ones – with a little caution. In particular, avoid kissing someone you don’t really like (and letting someone post a photo of it on Facebook) or being caught attempting to photocopy your extremities.
